World renowned Dancer, Teacher and Choreographer, Frankie Martinez continues his signature seminar style workshops this Spring in an unprecedented 2 day seminar on Choreography. Participants will be led through an exploration of the inner workings and unique philosophy of using Afro-Latin dance to deliver a message in a sophisticated and meaningful way.
For choreographers wishing to elevate their craft, those interested in someday becoming choreographers, those that are dancing for a company under a choreographer, or even the casual dancer who wishes to understand more about how to view and appreciate performance from a distance, this clinic will transform how we appreciate and respect the special skill that is choreography. Topics will include choosing and dissecting a piece of music, including a rundown of Latin music composition, creating and maintaining themes, the use of personnel and even the process and relevance of costuming among many more.
This is art appreciation for the Afro-Latin dance world. There is no dance experience necessary and both the novice and seasoned choreographer will step away with a fresh perspective on performance and the possibilities for growth and sophistication of an art form all its own.
"What is lacking in Latin Dance as a performance art is the apprenticeship of choreographers. There is nowhere to train and study this very complex craft."
